ABOUT PEACE WEAVER
Teaching fiber arts is one of Peace
Weaver’s utmost joys – she loves to share
her knowledge and empower others with
the ability to create. She works on the
level of the student and gives them the
next step: tools and knowledge to move
forward.
Peace Weaver has been working in fiber
arts for over 35 years. She began at the
age of 3 making clothes for her dolls. Her
grandmother taught her to crochet at 5,
by the age of 12 she was sewing most all
her clothes. In her 20’s she learned
knitting, spinning, beadwork, batik, tiedye.
In college, at Cornell University, she
formally studied clothing design,
textiles, tailoring, surface design &
computer art. Throughout her life she
was always experimenting with clothing
design and clothing recycling. More
recently, she has added basket weaving,
book making, primitive skills and hoop
making to her repertoire.
Before her formal University training,
Peace struggled to find the knowledge she
was craving. Her mission is to bring
much of this formal and obscure
knowledge into the hands of home sewers
and hobbyists.
